Day 1 : Alice Springs to Uluru (Ayers Rock)

Melbourne might have the arts scene and Sydney the beaches, but Alice Springs is really where you need to go to understand Australia proper. Approximately 70% of the Australian continent is classed as arid or semi-arid – and little old Alice Springs sits right in the middle of it all. Whereas Uluru emerges from the earth as one giant boulder form, Kata Tjuta pops up as 36 different domes – you’ll get to know the site pretty well on an afternoon hike following lunch. As evening begins, enjoy some tasty snacks as the sun sets over Uluru casting incredible colours. The perfect end to a remarkable day is awaiting you back at camp, as you enjoy a delicious spread of food with your group. If the weather permits, sit outside under the stars. Today, driving time is approximately 4.5 hours. Walking is approximately one hour.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 2 : Uluru to Kings Canyon

An early start this morning is rewarded with an Uluru sunrise. While the morning is fresh enjoy a walk around the base of Uluru, gaining insights into the land and the local Mala Aboriginal people. After your stroll, we walk to the cave paintings near Mutitjulu Waterhole at the base of Uluru. You will be in the hands of an Anangu guide who will share the stories of this unique landscape and explain the Art, the Culture and connection to Land which will give you an exclusive insight to the meaning behind Anangu art and traditional culture. Once you’ve had lunch, perhaps purchase some art and craft at the Uluru Cultural Centre. Travel onto the exclusive campsite within Watarrka National Park (Kings Canyon), where the group will eat and sleep for the night. Note: Total driving time today is around three and a half hours. Total walking time is approximately two hours (or up to 4 hours if you do the full 8.5km / 5.3mi base walk.)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3 : Kings Canyon Rim Walk

After breakfast, get your hiking shoes on and head out to explore the impressive formations of Kings Canyon. You’ll be left breathless by the sheer beauty of the canyon, as you trek through the Amphitheatre, the Lost City, the lush and ancient Garden of Eden and the North and South Walls. Lunch is a welcome prospect, before you make your way back to Alice Springs. On arrival, you're free to leave and carry on your travels but please ensure departing flights are booked for the following day. Note: Total driving time takes around five hours. Amazing trip, nice guide, good hikes. Very cool group. Campgrounds are nice even though in the middle of the bush, especially the second night.

Ty did a great job. The tour checked the boxes. I would have liked more time hiking and less time at camp. I'm a simple guy, so fast meals and hitting the trails rather than 90 minutes to cook and each lunch. By that is just my style.

Really fun tour. Simon was a fantastic tour guide. Really good humored, kind and knowledgeable and went out of his way for his group. Fantastic experience. Just a tip for anyone participating on this trip in winter, no harm packing a hot water bottle if you have space and a torch if you have one lying around. Not necessary but just handy to bring along if you have them.
